About Carl
Hi, I’m Carl, I’ve been working with dogs for around 10 years now, helping owners with a range of behavioural issues, from reactivity and dog aggression through to things like separation anxiety and general day to day challenges.
Over time, my approach to training has shifted away from just focusing on the behaviour itself, and more towards understanding why it’s happening in the first place.
Dog training with a clear focus
Over the years, my approach has developed around one simple goal, helping owners actually enjoy their dogs again.
That means building dogs who have more freedom, better understanding, and a lifestyle that supports them properly, rather than constantly managing behaviour.
A lot of the issues people struggle with come down to a lack of clarity, fulfilment or understanding. When those pieces are in place, behaviour becomes much easier to work through.

Always a student
In this industry it’s easy to get stuck in one way of doing things, I try not to do that. I’m always looking to learn, improve and refine how I train, so I can get the best out of the dogs I work with and make the process clearer and more effective for their owners.
Mentorships
I regularly work alongside and learn from other trainers, gaining different perspectives and continuing to develop my approach. I’ve recently spent time working with Raven K9 Training through their motivation mentorship, which has had a big influence on how I look at engagement and training overall.
Regular workshops
I attend workshops and seminars whenever I can, not just to pick up new ideas, but to keep challenging my own thinking and make sure what I’m doing holds up in different environments and with different dogs.
Personal Competition
I also compete in IGP, a dog sport that allows me to test my training at a higher level. Having something like that keeps me accountable. It pushes me to keep improving and makes sure I’m not just talking about training, but actually applying it.
